IIUC's Brief History:
International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC) is one of the Government approved Private Universities in Bangladesh. The credit for the idea of establishing this University goes to Islamic University Chittagong Trust (IUCT), which is the founder organization of the
University. The Trust is a non-political and non-profit voluntary organization, registered with the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh under the Societies Act XXI of 1860.This Trust felt the need for a University under private initiative in view of absence of institutions of higher learning based on Islamic vision of life in the public sector. Based on an idea, which had its origin in 1990, the Trust discussed the concept of a private Islamic University with a group of intellectuals, Islamic thinkers, researchers and educationists, at home and abroad.It was these Islamic personalities who came forward to materialize the dream of such an institution by putting together their ideas, energies and financial resourees, In 1992, they established an anchor organization called Islamic University Chittagong Trust (IUCT).Under the aegis of this body and by the Grace of Allah (SWT) Islamic University Chittagong got the Government’s approval on February 11, 1995 and the University was founded in the same year accordingly. Thus, a long-cherished dream of the people of Chittagong came to reality.
UGC's ranking & BAETE's accreditation:
IIUC is among the top graded 9 Private Universities of BangladeshGraded by the high powered team constituted by the Prime Minister in 2004 headed by the Chairman of UGC for evaluating the standard &
quality of existing 57 (Fifty Seven) Private Universities.
IIUC is the First University with accreditation of BAETE
IIUC is the first private University which has been accredited by the Board of Accreditation for Engineering & Technical Education (BAETE) for fulfilling all requirements in its CSE and CCE programs.

International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC) was established in 1995 by the trust of this university with a mission of developing this university as an ideal institution of higher learning and research in the private sector of Bangladesh. IUC Trust and its Syndicate are being run by academic scholars and leaders of international repute, consisting of scholars of both home and abroad. The vision of IIUC is to combine quality education with morality so that the graduates of this university grow up with skill-based modern knowledge and strong morality for humanness. In the higher education sector of Bangladesh, IIUC has become the forerunner of addressing the challenges of globalization by providing appropriate knowledge imbued with morality in order to bring peace, progress and tranquility in human societies across the globe.
With a view to providing dynamic leadership, as Vice-Chancellors, IIUC was run by renowned educationist Prof. Mohammad Ali, the former Vice-Chancellor of University of Chittagong and former member of University Grants Commission of Bangladesh in its first phase and Prof. Dr. A. K. M. Azharul Islam, a renowned scientist and scholar of international reputation & Professor of Physics - University of Rajshahi in its second phase. Their services have elevated IIUC to its present standard of excellence.
Over the past years of its establishment, development & expansion, it has cut an image of one of the best ranking private universities in Bangladesh. And this is because of the fact that IIUC has highest number of quality students numbering around 9000 including its Chittagong and Dhaka Campus with qualified faculties in all the departments having sufficient library, lab and internet facilities. Currently IIUC has more than one lac title books in its central library along with five thousand e-journals and each faculty has its seminar library with required books and journals. A good number of IIUC graduates have obtained higher degrees from foreign universities which is the testimony of its best quality education. Many graduates of this university are being employed within the country and outside and are holding important positions both in private and public sectors. A few graduates of IIUC are also recruited in the teaching and non-teaching positions of public universities. One of the unique features of IIUC is that it is providing separate education to male and female students. Moreover, IIUC has developed its Permanent Campus at Kumira, Sitakunda – Chittagong 22 km far off Chittagong City and lying beside the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in a hilly area with required modern facilities and in a beautiful landscape with thin forest bounties.
I expect that the students of IIUC shall try their best to take the fullest advantage of this university, by freely interacting with teachers and officials of IIUC which has already become their chosen institution of higher learning and research.
